Spiritually Fit Recovery
About
Edana
My name is Edana and I am a recovering drug addict and alcoholic. While in treatment I was introduced to yoga by Spiritually Fit Recovery, a company that teaches yoga at treatment centers across the valley. I attribute the tools of yoga, breathing techniques, meditation and movement to my successful recovery. I experienced a full circle moment upon completing my yoga teacher training certification in 2022. After graduating, I was hired by Spiritually Fit Recovery, the same company that so graciously introduced me to this life-saving practice while I was in treatment. I feel so blessed to be teaching for them and it is an honor getting to work with other recovering individuals like me. All of the instructors at SFR are trauma-informed with first hand experience in mental health and addiction recovery ourselves. This allows us to develop a deep connection with our students. Post treatment, we offer students free yoga every Saturday night at Sweatshop on Central. This class allows us to provide all of our students with ongoing, free access to the tools of yoga that have helped so many of us without the barrier of financial burden. Our mission is to improve our mental, physical, spiritual and emotional health in our community. We can't wait to work with you!!

About
Shae Taylor
Shae is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and certified teacher, who has been working with adults, children, and families in the mental health field since 2008. In 1999, Shae earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from Texas Christian University. After teaching for several years in at-risk schools, Shae traveled to Guatemala to volunteer with the children and families living at a Guatemalan landfill, which led her to the field of social work. Shae received her Master of Social Work from North Carolina State University in 2010 and began building her skill set as a trauma-informed therapist by working with the unsheltered population with chronic and persistent untreated mental health diagnoses. Her areas of specialization include childhood trauma, depression, anxiety, emotional and sexual abuse, relationship issues, domestic and family violence, and substance abuse. It is Shae’s goal, first and foremost, to provide a warm, accepting, safe space for her clients, where they have the freedom to authentically be themselves and comfortably discuss the issues that bring them to her door. Shae’s therapeutic focus and treatment style is driven by the perspective that everyone has the innate ability to heal and transform any negative life experience, and the power to create their lives the way they envision them to be. Shae is a trained Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist and utilizes treatment modalities such as trauma-informed care, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). She uses a relational, collaborative approach, in conjunction with psychodynamic treatment styles, to help her clients examine the root cause of their distress through increased self-awareness. Shae will “meet you wherever you are” in your healing journey, and, walking along side you, will help you celebrate your big and small successes along the way.

Ciara Sarauer
Art Therapist
About
Ciara
My name is Ciara, I'm a group facilitator here at Sequoia Behavioral Health. I went to school for Expressive and Therapeutic Arts for my Bachelors degree and Art Therapy for my Masters. I absolutely love the power of art and how it can be a healthy way for individuals to express emotions that are often too difficult to express with words. There are times when words don't convey how we truly feel or sometimes not knowing how to express certain emotions with words. Art is a great method to help individuals feel more in control of their lives and helps relieve anxiety and depression. The best part about therapeutic art groups is that you don't need to have to be "artsy" yourself! Artistic expression isn't about how it looks or what skills you bring to the table. It's all about what insights you gain from your artwork and being able to process thoughts and emotions in a non threatening manner, plus art is fun! I have learned so much from my time working in behavioral health through multiple inpatient treatment centers and believe that it is part of my life's journey to assist individuals through the power of art. And now I have the privilege to do what I love here at Sequoia!
