Assessments and Diagnostics

Part of Sequoia’s specialty is diagnosing the mental health issues that we treat. Learn more about why we take so much time and care to diagnose our clients.

The Right Treatment Starts With The Proper Diagnosis

In order to find the right treatment, you need to know what is being treated. At Sequoia, inpatient and PHP clients will see a psychiatrist within 24 hours of being admitted. IOP clients see a psychiatrist within 72 hours. They’ll talk to you about what you're experiencing in order to make a formal diagnosis.

This initial assessment is the first step to formulating a personalized treatment plan. Once we have a better idea of what you’re battling, we can work with you in setting goals for your wellbeing.

Inpatient and PHP clients meet weekly with our psychiatric team to ensure medications are working and programming is still on track. Diagnoses may change as treatment progresses, and these check-ins help make sure that every client is getting the exact kind of help they need.

Why Psychiatric Assessments Facilitate Better Treatment

The right diagnosis sets the tone for the rest of your experience during treatment. These early assessments help us track progress and make any adjustments to programming as needed.  At Sequoia, we do everything we can to make sure that you’re set up for success—during treatment and after.

No Previous Diagnosis Required

Most people that come to Sequoia haven’t had a formal diagnosis. As long as you can talk to us about what you’re thinking and feeling, we’ll make a diagnosis and create a treatment plan.

Manage Medications

Once we have more of an answer of why you’re feeling what you’re feeling, we can prescribe the best medications for you, if necessary. Our team will always take your preferences into account, and collaborate with you to find the best medications and treatment course for you.

Continue Healing After Treatment

The path to wellness doesn’t end when your time with Sequoia does. Along with the tools you learn during treatment, an in-depth diagnosis is vital to continuing healing. Our case management team will work with the client to ensure that once they finish treatment they have an outpatient provider to continue medication management.
