Types of Neurotherapy

Learn about the diverse ways to improve brain function using the brain “rewiring” capabilities of neurotherapy.

How Neurotherapy Works

Neurotherapy uses the principles of neurofeedback to treat different types of common and uncommon mental and behavioral struggles. These newer therapies are growing fast, but few therapists are certified and qualified to administer them.

There are many variations of neurofeedback, including:

  • frequency/power
  • Slow cortical potential
  • Infraslow frequency
  • Low-energy neurofeedback system
  • Hemoencephalography
  • Live Z-score training
  • Low-resolution electromagnetic tomography
  • Functional magnetic resonance imaging

Each of these uses the same concepts as neurofeedback, but they each have different applications and best use cases.

Some forms of neurotherapy are used to improve brain function for people who survived brain injury, tumors, or strokes. They can also improve movement after spinal injury, Parkinson’s disease, and other movement disorders.

What Can Neurotherapy Treat?

The brain is infinitely complex. It’s the center of bodily function, thoughts, emotions, and important systems. There is a lot to learn about the brain and many ways we can leverage it to improve symptoms of different ailments, both mental and physical.

Anxiety

Our bodies manifest anxiety at the same time that we feel it. Neurofeedback can help us see the neurological development of anxiety so that we can lessen its impact before it happens.

Depression

For many, Depression can make you feel stuck and like you won’t ever feel better. Neurotherapy shows you what’s happening in your brain and gives you the tools to cope and feel better.

PTSD

Trauma re-wires the brain. Neurotherapy, along with trauma therapies, can help trauma victims find mindfulness, peace, and a happier future.

Sleep Disorders

Sleep, our physical health, and our mental well-being are intimately connected. When you can better understand why you can’t sleep or why you’re oversleeping, you can take steps to fix your sleep patterns.
